Yesterday’s Who Cares Wins event featured the talented bunch from Blinkink, a production company where animation and technique-driven live action meet. Blinkink represent some of the world’s most creative and innovative directors. Coming to talk to us were Andersen M and Greg Barth.
Greg Barth is a director whose experimental comedy Fortunes won the coveted Young Directors Award at Cannes. Barth’s style often includes striking colour and surreal imagery. His work includes films for Grolsch, Ryvita and Hello Play. Greg talked about the techniques behind his work and the pressures of modern life that inspired Fortunes.
Andersen M are a brother and sister team renowned for their atmospheric craft films. The pair have worked on projects for Clipper, the Discovery Channel, and the New Zealand Book Council – the latter project, Going West, winning them two Gold Lions at Cannes. The duo shared their low tech beginnings as well as the intricate detail of their latest projects.
