Pride in London, the volunteer-based organisation which runs the UK’s biggest LGBT+ event has appointed WCRS to develop an integrated campaign to promote its 2016 festival, the focus of which is a central London parade taking place 25th June.
Pride in London is one of London’s biggest free events, attracting up to a million people every year, celebrating the LGBT+ community in all its diversity. It is supported by the Mayor of London, with Barclays returning as Headline Sponsor for the third year running. celebrity patrons include Sir Elton John, Martina Navratilova and Sir Ian McKellen.
The theme for this year’s event is unity; with the ambition to get all Londoners to come together to celebrate what makes the city great, regardless of their sexuality.
It’s an incredible privilege to work on such a prestigious event, not only for the sheer scale of it but also for what it stands for; bringing together a minority who becomes the majority for one event. The partnerships alone are a huge opportunity for the agency to flex its creative muscle for the greater good. In short, we’re very excited and proud to work on this unique account.
WCRS won the project without pitch and will be working with Pride in London over the upcoming months until the festival launch in the summer.
Alison Camps, Marketing Director, Pride in London adds “London is already a beacon for LGBT+ rights across the globe. But the truth is even in this great city LGBT+ people still suffer prejudice and discrimination. That is part of the reason why Pride is still needed, and we are delighted to have the support of one of London’s leading creative agencies to get our message about equality across. WCRS have come up with a cracking campaign, which is going to give Londoners real pause for thought. 2016 is shaping up to be our most powerful campaign yet.”
