From Noodles to Nuoc Cham, our producer Lizzie Mabbott talks about her new cookery book Chinatown Kitchen.
Chinatown Kitchen is a cookbook that describes all the weird and wonderful ingredients you might come across at your local Asian supermarket or Chinatown, and how to use them.
I wrote the book because I was nostalgic for the food I grew up with, so I started exploring all the dishes I missed, experimenting with different ingredients and techniques. If you’ve ever felt a similar sort of bafflement as I did wandering the aisles of these supermarkets, picking up all the brightly coloured jars and packages and wondering what the hell they are, then this is the book for you.
It’s not an educational tome tangled in authenticity; there are some traditional recipes in there but others are just using things that make meals delicious.
You can pre-order it on Amazon now, and it is released 2nd April 2015.
