Inflated Egos is an installation built by IsThisGood? and a collaboration of other talented individuals, based on an idea by Katy Hopkins and Steve Hawthorne. It visualises the popularity of the leaders of the seven main political parties in the run up to the 2015 General Election.
Using sentiment analysis of Twitter activity, the installation inflates and deflates a series of balloons that represent the heads of the political leaders. If tweets about them are positive and plentiful, their heads will expand. If tweets are negative and few, their heads will deflate.
This will allow us to see who the big heads are and who is feeling a bit deflated throughout the election, acting as a new type of swingometer.
The installation will be at the Hoxton Gallery, 9 Kingsland Road, Shoreditch on the 4th and 5th of May and in the window of Partizan, 40-42 Lexington Street, Soho from 6th – 9th May.
