WCRS is recruiting Account Executives now to start in January 2016. To apply, click here.
Being an Account Exec isn’t just about having fun. It’s also the way to go if you want to build a better future. Here are five reasons why the world would be a better place if everyone started out their career as an AE:
- The progress of our species would increase (at least) tenfold.
AEs have the perfect blend of curiosity and productivity. They specialise in making great ideas come to life. Can you imagine the breakneck speed of human progress if everyone had this attitude every day? No sooner would we imagine a perfect world than we’d create it. If everyone was an AE, we’d all be flying around in our emission-free jet suits, eating zero-calorie chocolate and living to the age of 160 within a decade.
- No problem would be too hard to fix.
An AE thrives on solving problems. Ship’s just hit an iceberg? The AE’s the lady in the corner steadily morse-coding the distress signal. Asteroid heading to earth? The AE’s the guy in Houston suavely suiting up for a NASA interception. A world without unfixable problems is a happy place to be. I’m not saying AEs can solve any problem, but they really can solve any problem.
- Wars would be a thing of the past.
Wars happen when people are aggressive. Aggression happens when people are angry. Anger happens when people are misunderstood. I don’t know the answer to world peace, but I’m willing to bet it’s got something to do with communication, negotiation and charm: three talents every AE has in spades. If everyone learned to communicate the way an AE communicates, misunderstandings would be short lived and wars just wouldn’t happen.
- There’d be no such thing as an awkward silence.
It’s the little iniquities in life that really get you down. It happens all the time: you meet a stranger, try to spark up a conversation, only to watch it fall flat on its face. Now imagine a world in which everyone has a library of anecdotes.
“You’ll never guess what Sylvester Stallone said to me…”; “Playing football at Wembley Stadium really is all it’s cracked up to be”; “I thought I was immune to travel sickness until I spent a week on a Royal Navy destroyer in a choppy North Sea”.
Source of all of the above: the AE sitting next to me. I rest my case.
- The devil would be out of work…
… because there’d be no idle hands to make it. It sounds corny, but as an AE no two days are the same. Where else would you be globally launching the world’s most popular gaming app (Candy Crush) one day and getting the country to give blood (Missing Type) the next? AEs get everywhere and leave not a morsel of space for laziness or boredom. Imagine a world in which everyone was too busy doing awesome things to sit around trolling people on YouTube.
